WARN Act

What is the WARN Act?

The WARN Act is the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, a U.S. labor law that requires employers with 100 or more employees to provide at least 60 days’ notice before a mass layoff or plant closure. This notice must be given to affected workers, their representatives, and local government authorities to allow employees time to prepare for the transition, seek other employment, or access retraining programs. The WARN Act aims to protect workers from sudden job loss due to large-scale layoffs or closures.
