What is Garden Leave?

Garden Leave is a period of time during which an employee, typically one who has resigned or is being dismissed, is required to remain away from work but still receives their regular salary and benefits. During this period, the employee is usually not allowed to work for another employer or engage in activities that may affect the interests of the employer. Garden leave is often used to prevent the employee from accessing sensitive information or taking advantage of client relationships while serving out their notice period.
