What is the FMLA (Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993)?
The FMLA (Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993) is a U.S. federal law that entitles eligible employees to take up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave per year for certain family and medical reasons, such as the birth of a child, caring for a family member with a serious health condition, or dealing with their own serious health condition. The law also requires group health benefits to be maintained during the leave period.
